The ISPD International Studies Committee exists to encourage high-quality, international research collaborations. Many problems in PD can only be answered effectively by such collaborative ventures, especially when large numbers of patients are required. The committee, which comprises a clinical research representative from each continent, undertakes to conduct a peer review of research proposals, and subsequently endorsement by the society where appropriate. Studies currently endorsed are SONG-PD, IDEAL, the GLOBAL Fluid Study, the GREX research on exercise for PD patients, and the International Paediatric Peritonitis Registry. Small grants can be awarded at the discretion of the Council to help enable these projects, in the context of additional funding obtained by the researchers.
Application Process
The opening for the call for 2022-23 has been postponed and the new closing date will be announced in the ISPD newsletter and on our social media channels, and of course on this page.
Those wishing to approach the committee with a research proposal are strongly encouraged to discuss their ideas informally first with the chair team, Thyago Proença, Mark Lambie, and Yeoung Jee Cho, by emailing admin@ispd.org already. Full applications should also be submitted to the same email address: admin@ispd.org. The committee would hope to financially support at least one project per year, but more than one project can get support or endorsement.
You can find here the Downloadable file for 2021-22’s call on how to submit your study proposal for ISPD support. Small changes on the guidelines are expected, but you can base the preliminary work on your proposal on this document.
