The International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) is devoted to fostering advancements in the field of peritoneal dialysis (PD). In alignment with this dedication, the ISPD International Studies Committee is excited to open the call for research project applications for the 2023-24 cycle. Our objective is to promote high-quality, international research collaborations, and to support the growth and development of researchers and PD leaders, particularly in low and middle-income countries where PD use is limited and research faces many obstacles.

The ISPD Research Grant, awarded at the discretion of the ISPD International Studies Committee (ISC), will typically range from US $5,000.00 to $10,000. The ISPD ISC, composed of clinical research representatives from each continent, will conduct a thorough peer review of the received research proposals. Following this review, the ISC will rank each proposal based on its merits and potential impact, and report back to the ISPD Council, where the final decisions regarding awarding of grants will be made. It is expected that the ISPD Research Grant will not be the only source of funding for the submitted proposals.

Studies endorsed in the past include SONG-PD, IDEAL, the GLOBAL Fluid Study, the GREX research on exercise for PD patients, and the International Paediatric Peritonitis Registry.

Application Process

The call for 2023-24 is open now and the deadline to receive applications is 15th February. Additional information may be issued on the ISPD newsletter, on our social media channels, and this page.

We encourage applicants to approach the ISC with a research summary to discuss their ideas informally first with the chair team, Thyago Proença, Mark Lambie, and Yeoungjee Cho. To organize such a discussion, please email before Jan 31st with a few available time slots. Final applications should also be submitted to the same email address:

The committee hopes to financially support at least one project per year, but more than one project may be endorsed and/or supported.
