coagulase negative staph (CNS) are usually found as skin commensals. So CNS peritonitis is often presumed to be related to ‘contamination’ during exchange procedures. The flush-before-fill connection technique has markedly reduced the incidence of CNS peritonitis. Re-examination +/- re-training of the exchange procedures done by patients or their helpers is recommended after an episode of CNS peritonitis.
