We are asked to give IP prophylactic antibiotics to patient after routine transfer set change. I am not quite sure about the rationale behind it. Is there any unit which gives IP prophylactic antibiotics to patient after the routine line change procedure?

In the UK it is not usual practice to give IP antibiotics at time of line change. If the procedure is performed aseptically there is no reason to need antibiotics as no contamination is happeneing
