There is no clinical circumstance where measurement of intraperitoneal pressure is necessary in adults. In children, some nephrologists measure intraperitoneal pressure to determine the optimal intrperitoneal volume – there is concern that too high an intraperitoneal pressure will reduce ultrafiltration volume. The measurement of intraperitoneal pressure will require you to attach a calibrated column like you would for CSF pressure.
