I’m a patient on CAPD. I am short wasted and apparently have a small peritoneum as I can only hold 1.5L of fluid. Even with that, my stomach looks distended. It concerns me because I look at older people (I’m 44)who are much thinner than I am holding 2L and you can’t even tell. If I have more than 1.5L my stomach gets extremly distended and it becomes very uncomfortable and hard to breath because there is so much pressure pushing up. ( I feel like I’m in my 40th week of pregnancy) I will be doing a PET soon and I did see your answer that the test is configured from having 2L of fluid. The day prior to the test I will be doing a 24hour urine (as I have pretty good residual function left) as well as collecting my bags to turn in for the creatine clearance. Will I have to use 2L the whole day before on all my exchanges or can I just use 2L the night before and 2L the day of the test?
