Questions About PD
We thank you for your question. Now, there was a response to a similar question posted to this ISPD website on January 18, 2016. The response then was that we are not aware of any data on this and that it is relatively common for patients/nurses to set up a cycler for CCPD treatment several hours before use, and no adverse outcomes related to this practice have been reported.
Now, for the specifics of your question, we would also recommend that you check with the clinical consultant for the dialysis supplier of your Delflex PD solutions to see if they have precise recommendations for how long a cycler machine can be set up ahead of use. Most important, a major concern we have with your specific question is that we are not certain, according to the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, if a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) is allowed to set up a machine for peritoneal dialysis and would also advise you to look into this matter.
