How I can decide homey cycle to do and the fill volume for the patient?

I presume this question is how to decide how many cycles and the fill volume for a patient when prescribing APD. This is dictated by the patient’s membrane transport status. The High and High Average transporters remove solutes really well but do not remove fluid well (due to the glucose going into the patient) – as such they do better with short dwell times. Low and Low Average transporters however do better with longer dwell times. The fill volume is dependent upon ensuring that a minimum volume is used to ensure maximum peritoneal membrane involvement (~1.5L) and then a bigger volume if you require more fluid and/or small solute removal. The PD prescription will also be governed by the principle of using as small a volume of fluid per day as possible (ie minimise the glucose exposure as much as possible). For example, a patient with residual kidney function may not need a large volume of fluid overnight even iif they are a High transporter.
