Yes it can and should be measured. Indeed ANZDATA Registry will be changing collection to include the time between PD catheter insertion and start of PD training. To calculate the numerator is the number of episodes of peritonitis. The denominator is the time sum of the time between PD catheter insertion and start of PD training for all of the patients involved.
