Of course, the transfer rate varies according to the clinic and the country. In the United States, 29% of patients transfer to HD over a follow-up of 18 months. 6% (so, 1 in 5) of these transfers occur in the first 90 days – or put differently, 23% over the 15 months after the first 90 days.

This is incredibly high and this should be used as a quality measure for each dialysis unit.
