We thank you for your question. To the best of my knowledge, there is no research evidence to support the practice of changing the transfer set after each episode of peritonitis. Older research on this topic was with patients using PD exchange systems that are no longer available. It is not our local practice to change the transfer set after each episode of peritonitis; however, it is the current practice in some PD centers in the United States. Obviously, if the transfer set is visibly soiled, then it should always be changed.
