Questions About PD

We thank you for your question. We are not quite sure what you mean by window dressing. If you mean keyhole dressing such as is used for around a tracheostomy tube, then it is not the usual practice to use a keyhole dressing around the PD catheter exit site.
The usual practice is to use standard 2×2 inch (5×5 cm) or 4×4 inch (10.2 x 10.2 cm) gauze squares for the PD catheter exit-site dressing.
A keyhole dressing is not recommended, since it will not immobilize the PD catheter well, can cause loose fibers from the dressing to adhere to the exit site, and the pre-cut ones are more expensive that a regular gauze dressing.
