Can a PD patient develop toxins in their blood if an exchange is not done within a certain period of time? If so, what is the max time period before an exchange?

While missing an exchange does not cause fatal toxin development in blood
immediately, it would lead to reduced fluid removal and therefore patients are at risk of accummulation. Frequent missing out exchange will increase the risk of death. Patients should be educated not to miss out any exchange as far as possible.
