ISPD Awards 2024



The John Maher Award is awarded every two years at the ISPD Congress to recognize young individuals who have contributed substantially to the field of peritoneal dialysis. Candidates must be younger than 45 years old and have demonstrated expertise in the scientific, medical, or nursing aspects of PD.

We have the pleasure to announce that the recipient of the ISPD 2024 Maher Award is Prof. Annie-Claire Nadeau Fredette.

Dr. Nadeau-Fredette is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and a Junior 1 Clinician-Scientist at the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé FRQS. Her research program aims to understand and improve transitions in patients with kidney failure, especially those treated with peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis. She has contributed to over 70 publications including 18 manuscripts as first author and 12 papers as senior/corresponding author.




The Oreopoulos Award is awarded at the ISPD Congress to honor the lifetime achievements of one of its members in the field of PD (in terms of delivering care to patients, research, teaching, and/or advocacy).

We have the pleasure to announce that the recipient of the ISPD 2024 Oreopoulos Award is Prof. Ana Elizabeth Prado Lima Figueiredo.

Prof. Ana Figueiredo is a highly respected nephrology nurse specialist and academic who has contributed to significant achievements in clinical nursing, research, teaching and guideline development. Ana Figueiredo has been working with renal patients since 1985, with both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Her primary focus on PD research is to improve outcomes for PD patients. She has over 136 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including ISPD guidelines for PD training.


The winners will have the honor of collecting their ISPD 2024 awards at the Congress in Dubai (26-29 September 2024).
