Education

In North America there has been a decline in the utilization of chronic peritoneal dialysis for the treatment of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), despite an expanding number of patients reaching ESRD. Many factors are thought to contribute to this decline. Inadequate training and education in peritoneal dialysis therapy is one of these factors. In an effort to address this, the North American Chapter of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (NAC-ISPD) has sponsored the development of a comprehensive curriculum on peritoneal dialysis. This has been a collaborative project between the NAC-ISPD, the Nephrology Training Program Directors (TPD), the TPD executive committee, the Dialysis Advisory Group of the American Society of Nephrology and other nephrologists interested in PD.

The curriculum consists of a series of 20 lectures PDF format with accompanying notes for slides that require further explanation. Each module will be followed by self-assessment questions. There is no CME credit given for this educational activity. There is no commercial support. All content has been vetted for balance and objectivity by a review committee.
