Peter Nourse (South Africa)

Dr Nourse is a Paediatric Nephrologist working at a busy children’s dialysis and transplant Centre at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town South Africa. Paediatric training was done in the United Kingdom and Stellenbosch University South Africa. He completed his Fellowship in Paediatric Nephrology training in Holland in 2003. Peritoneal dialysis is the modality of choice for both acute and chronic dialysis at Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Dr Nourse’s research interests lie in peritoneal dialysis as well as in HIV nephropathies and other. He recently published a study using continuous flow peritoneal dialysis use in children in ICU, and more recently contributed to the ISPD acute peritoneal dialysis guidelines. Dr Nourse has been involved in the training of more than 12 IPNA and ISN Fellows in the past few years many of which have instituted acute peritoneal dialysis on returning to their country. He is also actively involved in lecturing and practical training on an acute peritoneal dialysis course run each year at Red Cross Children’s Hospital.
