Olof Heimbürger (born 1957), MD, PhD, Division of Renal Medicine, Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology, Karolinska Institute. Senior Physician, Director of Peritoneal Dialysis, Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge and Solna, Stockholm, Sweden. In 1994 I wrote my Ph D Thesis: “Peritoneal transport in patients treated with continuous peritoneal dialysis”. I have about 20 years of clinical nephrology experience and have published more than 190 papers and textbook chapters on peritoneal dialysis, nutrition, inflammation, cardiovascular disease and genetics in patients with chronic renal failure. I have taken part in several clinical trials of new PD-solutions.
I am a member of the EDTA-ERA committee for European Renal Best Practice Guidelines and chairman in the committee for Swedish Clinical Guidelines for Peritoneal Dialysis.
